CARCINOSYS Database

CARCINOSYS - Carcinogenicity Classification Systems for Chemical Agents

Comparison of international carcinogenicity classification systems for chemical agents

The database is based on an extrapolation of substances and compounds of concern for their occupational carcinogenic risk and classified as carcinogens or suspected to be carcinogens based on the CLP Regulation.

This database allows a rapid comparison of the different classification systems and their “conversion” in the CLP reference classification system. Filtering the database for a specific chemical, using the name or CAS number (Chemical Abstract Service Registry Number), allow to obtain the result for all the consulted classification of carcinogenicity systems.

Moreover, the database is composed of a rapid explanation of its use, a disclaimer, a comparison and conversion table on all the classification systems with the reference CLP classification, and a glossary with legend.

International classification systems involved in the study:

  • EPA: Environmental Protection Agency (United States)
  • ACGIH: American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (United States)
  • NTP: National Toxicology Program (United States)
  • IARC: International Agency for Research on Cancer
  • NIOSH: National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (United States)
